I cut my teeth at HMRC in London, though realised early on that it wasn’t the place for me to develop my career.
Moving to the other side, I qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser with Littlejohn’s in Canary Wharf, then moved to top 50 firm Silver Levene in the West End and became their youngest and first female partner.
For a decade I worked with business and personal clients, solving complex tax situations on business transactions and for high-net-worth people, and managed the firm’s challenging 3,500 annual tax return filing cycle.
My time in London produced a network of professional relationships that I still enjoy today.
Work/life was rebalanced with a move to the New Forest in Hampshire (via a year in France) and the formation of the first Total Tax Group company in 2003. Here I have the best of both worlds – a stimulating and growing business, as well as time for family and friends in a beautiful part of the country.
I’ve been in business from the age of 27 and have first hand experience of what it takes to run a successful company, and the journey through start-up, organic growth, financing for expansion, acquisition and merger.
My natural focus is the tax impact of such challenges, underpinned by practical guidance on how to handle the day-to-day practical considerations.
I have achieved professional qualifications in coaching, and have developed programmes for business growth, staff retention and succession/exit, and offer this bespoke advice service business owners.
In recent years I have also qualified as a probate practitioner, which allows me to combine my skills from all these areas in helping clients to financially, legally and emotionally navigate one of the trickiest things in life.
