Events Speaking & Networking

We attend many events, and also run our own across Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire.

These are either designed to stimulate discussion and offer snapshots of helpful information on certain subjects, or aimed at fellow

professionals seeking to work together.

If you would like to join us, either have a look at dates coming up or get in touch with Nicky Matthews at our Fordingbridge office who will ensure that you receive any future invites.

Crowdfunding Postcard 01

This year 7,000 SMEs will raise more than £1 billion through crowdfunding, how could your business benefit?

jpeg headline

A thought provoking, interactive event for business decision makers to understand the opportunities offered by crowdfunding platforms and to hear from experts on how to prepare a perfect crowdfunding pitch.

Hosted by Total Tax Group and Focused for Business with guest speakers from two leading, but entirely different, crowdfunding platforms. Angels Den will demonstrate how crowdfunding is so much more than just about the money and FundingKnight will introduce "modern finance" through their intelligent crowd-lending platform.

Sophie White, Hatty Fawcett and Jeremy Over will provide examples of recent successful investments across all platforms and will demonstrate, in interative workshops, "Six Stand Out Strategies for Success".

Essential for expanding businesses looking for external funding in excess of £150,000 and frustrated by the lack of banks lending appetite.

Spaces are limited, so you are urged to book quickly to avoid disappointment. We look forward to welcoming you.

Update:

If you were unable to make the evening we missed you! It was a great evening with over 60 business leaders joining us on a particularly blowy evening at the Ageas Bowl.

Everyone attending commented on the range of options presented and how the personal stories added credibility and interest, there were some great conversations and some really useful business connections were made.

Total Tax Group is dedicated to providing clear considered elegant accounting to local businesses looking at crowdfunding investment options.  If you feel that you would like to know more then please email Sophie White.

Great event we liked the passion for the platforms and the personal stories

I realise now how hard it is but also that it is do-able!

I particularly liked Colin and Hatty and Sophie's mini bond story

Great event at AFCB last night, hosted by @TotalTaxGroupGB. Great looking and impactful display stands too!

Well done for a brilliantly organised event.  Thank you for the details too.  Definitely would be interested in doing it again J

Attended the Total Tax Speed Date the Experts event last night at AFC Bournemouth - great event! @TotalTaxGroupGB

Thank you to Total Tax Group Ltd for a successful networking event that I attended yesterday evening, Speed Date the Experts.

A number of our team occasionally take part in charitable events, it's usually a chance to stretch limbs and all for a good cause.  Here Celia and Sophie provide an update on what they are getting up to.

On Sunday 12th April I will be walking the Myeloma Marathon - 26 miles through the stunning Purbecks - in aid of Myeloma UK.

I would be delighted if you could join us for the event, as we'd love to have 50 walkers in total, but appreciate this is a very big request!  Alternatively, your sponsorship would be a very generous way to help as we aim to raise £2,500 to fund research and raise awareness.

This charity is vital to our understanding of a traumatic condition that affects many people and has recently hit our family.  Please follow this link for details on how to sponsor the event. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I really hope you can support in some way.

My sister in law and I take time out of work, family and life to walk for charity and personal sanity.

Last year we walked the grueling 29 miles Moonwalk for Breast Cancer and the idyllic 25k Thames Path Challenge for Reverse Retts. This year we head out on 31 May for the Clarendon Way 26 mile challenge for the brilliant Naomi House (and another walk in Sept we've not yet decided on, but will keep you posted!).

All these charities deserve our and your support - without them the world would be a sadder, bleaker and more desperate place for those they help so admirably.

Please give generously by following this link. Thank you.

  • Laura Tenison MBE - JoJo Maman Bebe

Total Tax were invited by HSBC Business Banking to present a short seminar to HSBC clients at their Westbourne Branch in March, which proved an interesting event with lots of good debate.

If you would like us to present at any of your events please get in touch with details either by phone or by emailing chris@totaltaxgroup.co.uk

Thank you to Barclays Bank for asking me to speak yesterday at their Buy-To-Let evening event at Trethowans in Salisbury.

There was lively interaction with the audience and I was asked lots of relevant questions ranging from the tax deductibility of double glazing, the implications of joint ownership, what relief is available when you sell a let property you’ve formerly lived in, how holiday lettings give better tax breaks on sale and how to deal with HMRC enquires!

There is clearly still huge interest from private investors in becoming landlords; with rental yields still high and the banks now lending again us Brits who understand the value in bricks and mortar are keen buy even with house prices climbing. The property developers in the audience and those already holding rental portfolios supported the theory that buying and/or developing now is an attractive proposition.

If you’d like advice on how to own buy-to-let properties, the tax breaks available against rental income and on sale please give the Team at Total Tax Group a call or email us and we’ll provide the first meeting free of charge with no obligations.

sand polo 2

In great sunshine and a warm breeze Total Tax Group celebrated with friends at the British Beach Polo Championships at Sandbanks on Friday. Sandbanks took on a “total” new look as England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland hammered it out on the beach in 6 minute chukkas demonstrating wonderful horsemanship skills to a full audience.

We also celebrated a number of raffle wins ourselves and managed to rein in a couple of high flying bidders in the charity auction for the Variety Club.

After a humiliating loss to Wales (albeit by one goal) on Friday, England faced a last chukka rout in their match with Ireland. With four six-minute chukkas making up the match England entered the last chukka winning 10-7. Ireland then rallied however, scoring four goals in five minutes to win 10-11.

Wales beat Scotland in the final to win the Asahi British Beach Polo Championships cup. Ricky Cooper said: “After losing to England in the Final of the 2013 British Beach Polo Championships, it was great to score the winner and knock them out.”

Many thanks to those attending, we look forward to meeting up with you again soon.

Thank you to everyone who attended our recent event at Chewton Glen for fellow professionals from local LLP's, accountants and those associated with the financial services sector. Without careful estate planning though, it is harder for people to sort out your affairs after your death, making the process very stressful, costly and time consuming.

During October Total Tax Limited and Archway Financial Solutions are offering unique local workshops where we aim to hold your hand by covering all aspects of estate planning.

Workshops are limited to six people so there is ample opportunity to discuss individual concerns.

We have designed two workshop formats:- How to talk inheritance – For parties seeking to broach this emotionally charged subject with parents or family members.

Planning for inheritance – For parties simply wishing to ensure their affairs are set up correctly.

We specifically avoid the jargon to make the whole situation easier there is no hard sell just simple, practical advice. If you do not have a will in place we can ensure that you leave with one or at least have an understanding and appreciation of what you need to do.

Dates: Wednesday 9th October 4pm – 6pm Talking about inheritance

Wednesday 16th October 6pm – 8pm Planning for inheritance

A huge thank you to those attending our event at Chewton Glen on 9th July. Over 50 people attended this stunning venue to hear first hand from business leaders who have “been there; done that”.

Sessions provided real insight into the resolution of common business problems that impact the bottom line.

James Grazebrook OBE spoke enthusiastically and entertainingly about his years in business in the marine industry and the trials of selling a company successfully. His anecdotes certainly raised a smile on more than one occasion. James’ personal contribution to the UK’s marine industry was acknowledged with an OBE in 2012.

Nicky Matthews MCIM from Media Box Marketing asked attendees to consider whether their marketing plan was broken and talked about identifying customer insights and honing the messages to talk to those customers accordingly. She also encouraged teams to work together crafting messages and sales pitches alongside one another and not seeing departments in isolation.

Kevin Kennard Dip PFS, owner and manager of Clinton Kennard Chartered Financial Planners, provided a personal overview on establishing a business and the difficulties faced with changing partnerships, re branding and relocation. His candid personal story resonated with many in the room.

Our very own Sophie White CTA, owner and manager of Total Tax talked about developing a brand rather than a business and identifying the key indicators to adapting to change and possible business sale.

In all a really well received event which showcased a number of start up businesses which is an encouraging insight from an economical point of view. Networking continued far later than we had envisaged with lots of new south coast connections being made.
